Smashburger

Smashburger came to West Chester in December of 2010 in a strip-mall located across from the Voice of America mall.  I’ve been in there a couple of times and so far I’ve not encountered a rude staff member yet and service has been pretty good as I haven’t seen a food order that was incorrect,( and I’m pretty picky as to what goes on my burger.)
Their menu includes burgers (which comes in two sizes, the 1/3lb and 1/2lb), chicken, salads, sides, milkshakes, hotdogs, and kids meals. Having been there a couple of times, I’ve actually come to like their burgers. The burgers are thick and look “handmade”, not a pressed patty that you see in a lot of places. The cheeseburgers come on an egg bun which as of yet, I’ve not had a burger with a soggy bun even though the burgers are messy; so, be warned now that if you go there make sure there are lots of napkins available. I usually get the small classic, which, in itself is not “small”. The burger comes on an egg bun with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, onion, pickles, and their “smashsauce”. However, I’m not a big fan of the “smashfries” or even the regular fries. The fries are cut thin and sprinkled with sea salt. I think it’s more of a “texture” thing for me. I’ve also tried the onion straws. The onion straws with the sauce are more appealing to me than the fries. However, I prefer the veggie frites which comes with asparagus, green beans, and carrots. Being one of many million Americans that don’t care for asparagus, I’ve asked that they leave the asparagus out which they can and will do, (maybe they should drop the asparagus and put in peas left in the shell… just saying….) The veggies aren’t to mushy or hard, and not too salty or overpowered with seasoning.
A couple of other things to remember if you go there:
®    During busy time, expect to wait at least 10 minutes
®    If placing a take-out, once again expect to wait in line as there is no register dedicated for take out
®    Also, since it’s a small place, once you wait in line, you also may have to wait for a table
®    During busy time, they won’t take call-in take-out. (Have a friend who called on a Friday night just to be told that they had a line to the door and not enough registers going to place the order. He went somewhere else…)
®    They don’t have online ordering as of yet. Waiting to see if they jump on the band wagon for online ordering
®    As given with a lot of business’s parking spots. Since they are in a strip-mall, if other businesses are open, then you have to compete with their customers as well.
In conclusion, Smashburger  is actually pretty decent even though it can get pretty pricey (two people together are looking close to $20 but comparable to other burger places) I also asked my friend if he would go back after being denied a call ahead order and he told me “yea, as it’s the  bomb.”

I would give Smashburger  3 out of 5 stars

Why I Feel The Need To Start Blogging....

I know I’m behind times as I’m just getting around to blogging.. But the more I go out, the more I feel the need to do it. There are so many movies, restaurants, and video games out there that I feel the need to let people know what is actually, excellent, fair, and then just plain crap. I’m sure there is people out there in this day and age of economic that would like to know if they are getting the best bang for their buck and not just pissing away their money. I know that there already a lot of people out there who blog on this already; however, I’m going to give it to you straight and honest. I’m not going to be one of those people who sugar coat their blogs, so if you’re looking for fluff, this won’t be the place. I know that not everyone will agree with what I say, but that’s the beauty of having an opinion….

At the end of my reviews, I will be doing a rating system based on five stars. Five being the best and one is the worst. These will be based on the following:

Video Games:
Ø  Graphics
Ø  Replay value
Ø  Difficulty of game
Ø  Quality
Movies:
Ø  Storyline
Ø  Quality of acting
Ø  Special effects
Ø  Family oriented

Restaurants:
Ø  Food
Ø  Service
Ø  Price
Ø  Atmosphere
